It was used the logistic regression method and the results demonstrated that availability of paved roads, land prices, relief, proximity to highways and access to water were significant. Of the nine municipalities that host corn ethanol production units, it was identified that 77.78% also host corn warehouses, 55.56% have fuel distributors and 66.67% are located in regions considered suitable for the installation of these units when considering relief, proximity to highways and access to water.
2025-05-28T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2025 ABER https://revistaaber.org.br/rberu/article/view/1167 Determinants of female entrepreneurship in rural areas of Brazil in 2019 2025-03-06T08:53:03-03:00 Maria Dos Santos Marques marquesmaria123@outlook.com Keuler Hissa Teixeira keulerhissa@hotmail.com
This study analyzes the determinants of female entrepreneurship in rural areas of Brazil, based on microdata from the 2019 Continuous National Household Survey (PNAD Contínua) and estimates using a logit model. The results show that women who are heads of households, older women, and women who work long hours are more likely to be entrepreneurs, especially in the agricultural sector. In the non agricultural sector, computer use, internet access, and support from the Bolsa Família program boost entrepreneurship. Regionally, entrepreneurship is more favored in the South and Northeast, while higher education reduces the probability of entrepreneurship in the North and Northeast. By income level, the effects of age, agricultural activity, retirement, and social programs are stronger at the extremes of the distribution, suggesting that entrepreneurship reflects both need and opportunity. The results highlight the importance of public policies that are sensitive to gender, territory, and income to strengthen the economic autonomy of rural women.
2025-05-28T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2025 ABER https://revistaaber.org.br/rberu/article/view/1152 Coverage of the Programa Bolsa Família and proportion of hospitalizations for waterborne diseases in the state of Minas Gerais 2025-02-07T08:39:00-03:00 Pedro Henrique Ferreira de Souza pedro.souza3@ufv.br Evandro Camargos Teixeira evandro.teixeira@ufv.br
This study aims to analyze the effects of the coverage of the Bolsa Família Program (PBF) on the proportion of hospitalizations due to waterborne diseases in the state of Minas Gerais, the second most populous state in Brazil, using an econometric model with dynamic panel data for the period 2013-2021. The main finding indicates that higher PBF coverage in municipalities of Minas Gerais is associated with a reduction in the proportion of hospitalizations for such diseases. This result can be explained by the fact that the PBF ensures a minimum income for families, which tends to improve health, education, and basic hygiene conditions. Furthermore, the program’s conditionalities, which include compliance with the national vaccination schedule, monitoring beneficiaries’ nutritional status, and prenatal care for pregnant women, facilitate early disease detection and reduce its incidence, particularly in communities with greater socioeconomic vulnerability.
2025-05-28T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2025 ABER https://revistaaber.org.br/rberu/article/view/1148 Evaluation of dynamics in the Brazilian industrial labor market 2024-12-19T08:36:06-03:00 Rúbia Silene Alegre Ferreira rubia.alegre.ferreira@gmail.com Vinícius Neres da Conceição vneres.dc@hotmail.com Wilfredo Sosa Sandoval sosa@imca.edu.pe
This study assesses the dynamics of the Brazilian industrial market, focusing on nine industrial divisions, between 1994 and 2021, using the Data Concentration Analysis (DCA) methodology. The analysis uses the Dynamic Locational Quotient, accompanied by the derivation of the Concentration Index (CI). The results point to strong regional disparities: the North, Northeast regions and the state of Mato Grosso have high Concentration Indexes, revealing dependenceon specific sectors and a lack of economic diversification. In contrast, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro have low CIs, indicating a more balanced industrial distribution, reflecting diversified economies and developed infrastructure. The manufacturing industry has low CIs, while the food industry achieves average results due to its production potential and segmentation. It is concluded that public policies that encourage diversification, professional qualification and technological innovation are essential to balance industrial development and promote gains in the Brazilian labor market.
2025-05-28T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2025 ABER https://revistaaber.org.br/rberu/article/view/1162 Evaluation of “Em Frente Brasil”, project in São José dos Pinhais/PR, (2019–2021) under the view of the economics of crime 2025-04-04T09:48:01-03:00 Eduardo Palmeira Vasconcellos pacellos@outllok.com Marco Antonio Jorge mjorge@ufs.br
The objective of this paper is to evaluate the performance of the pilot project Em Frente Brasil on the rates of homicide and robbery followed by death in São José dos Pinhais from 2019 to 2021, through the use of the synthetic control technique, which is capable of generating a projection of what São José dos Pinhais would be like without the intervention. We use GDP per capita and the IPARDES Indexes of municipal performance of municipalities in Paraná with a population over 100.000 inhabitants to generate this counterfactual. This data was limited to the period from 2014 to 2021. The article contributes to the literature by being one of the first to evaluate this pilot project in Brazil. Results show that the pilot project may have contributed to the reduction of 31 to 36 homicides between 2019 and 2021, although the likelihood of the improvement occurring by chance cannot be ruled out.
2025-05-28T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2025 ABER https://revistaaber.org.br/rberu/article/view/1156 Brazilian exports imputation: A new algorithm for estimating the municipal production directed at the foreign market 2025-02-07T08:39:46-03:00 Alan Leal alanmarquesleal@hotmail.com Michelle Marcia Viana Martins michelle.viana@ufv.br
This paper aims to present a new algorithm to estimate Brazilian municipalities exports at the HS6 level. Currently, the information available to academics and policymakers are available at a HS4 level and more importantly it does not inform the municipalities producing and directing this producing to foreign markets, it only addresses the bureaucracy of the export activity. Beyond this, we also review, through LLama, the literature that mentions the words "municipal exports", finding that no particular work mentions this distinction. The method proposed in this paper can help many stakeholders to analyze and make more informed decisions regarding themes of international trade. Hence, it possesses academic and policy relevance within the type of data that is available in Brazil.
2025-05-28T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2025 ABER
