Abstract

This research investigates the level of polarization of the supply of family work in urban Brazil for the year 2018. For this, microdata from the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (PNAD-C) are used, and the rates of unemployed families observed are computed. and counterfactual for Brazilian states. It was also estimated, through a multinomial logit model, the individual risk factors of being in a workless household, in the Northeast region. The results indicate that there is a greater concentration of families without work in the Northeast region of the country. Furthermore, this same region is also the one with the worst results in terms of vulnerability to poverty and income concentration. There are indications that the risk factors that most increase the chances of an individual living in a workless households are those that have high dependency ratios on children and the elderly and individuals of older age.
