The health system’s capacity to provide care has become a major concern since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, given the increased demand from people seeking care and treatment for this disease. Thus, the objective of this work is based on the reation of the Health Infrastructure Index (IIS) for the 854 Municipalities of Minas Gerais using factor analysis techniques, in addition to verifying the spatial distribution of IIS in the State. Data were obtained from DATASUS and the Transparency Portal of Minas Gerais, both for the year 2020. The results point to the City of Belo Horizonte as a reference in infrastructure in the state. However, there is the presence of smaller, more isolated cities with a reduced population with a prominent level of IIS, often attributed to the effectiveness of the structure of primary care and high coverage family health in these places.
