Abstract

This article identified the sectoral and intersectoral effects, in terms of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, from the implementation of the ABC Plan in the MATOPIBA region. Methodologically, a model of Interregional Hybrid Input-Product was structured and operated with emphasis on the breakdown of the MATOPIBA region. Three scenarios were developed with different levels of GHG emissions resulting from the implementation (or not) of the ABC Plan in MATOPIBA. In general, the results obtained reveal the importance that the actions of the ABC Plan had for MATOPIBA and, at the same time, demonstrate the positive impacts that ambitious emission reduction targets could have. Considering the emissions from the Agriculture, Forest and Other Land Use sectors, it is concluded that the sectors for controlling GHG emissions in the MATOPIBA region are Sugar Refining and Production of Beverages and Tobacco, Livestock and Forest Production.
