This article conducts an exploratory analysis of the productive structure in the planning microregions of Espírito Santo using a state input-output matrix for 2015. An inter-regional input-output model and various national and state data sources were utilized to regionalize the matrix across 10 planning microregions. Established methodologies in regional economics and input-output literature were applied to model sectoral and spatial interdependencies and calculate multipliers for production, employment, and income. The results reveal significant variations in multipliers among the 10 planning microregions, reflecting differences in regional productive structures. Sectors such as Food and Beverages, Generation and Distribution of Electricity, and Manufacturing of Non-Metallic Mineral Products are identified as key sectors in several microregions due to their high potential for employment and income generation. The analysis suggests that public policies focused on strengthening these key sectors could leverage regional economic growth, mitigate disparities, and promote a more balanced economic recovery. The research emphasizes the importance of considering geographical space in economic analyses, especially to assess the effects of external shocks.
